The Skit Guys – Idol Worship

When you think of worshiping idols, what comes to your mind? Golden calves? Giant statues? Heres a sobering look from The Skit Guys at what we often look like when we bow down to our own idols.

Tommy Woodard and Eddie James are The Skit Guys. They have been best friends since high school. Think of them as the wise guys in class who had everyone laughing and managed to make a career out of it. They’ve been teaching God’s word using comedy, drama and whatever category talking action figures fit into for over twenty years.

  1. Cool video. Don’t forget the Mall…..another temple for another idol. Keeping our deepest longings to further the Kingdom, not the closet.

  2. Very interesting and point well taken.
I found this video because I have questions (having recently experienced a sobering Religious awakening) about whether or not my DC and Marvel action figure collection is in any way idol worship. I found this after doing a google search about my concerns. I decided to post after reading “They’ve been teaching God’s word using comedy, drama and whatever category talking action figures fit into for over twenty years.”
Certainly, people have bigger problems in their lives than “is it wrong that I have (Marvel Comics) Thor and Mephisto figures or (DC Comics) Captain Marvel and Etrigan figures?” but it’s been bothering me and I don’t know if it’s just in my head or if there is a more devine reason for my concern over the issue.
No, I do not worship Nightwing, The Punisher or The Flash. I think they’re neat characters and it’s fun to have them in toy form.
I’m finding conflicting advice on the internet and it seems that certain Bible passages could only apply to golden calves and the like but I don’t know and I don’t want to screw things up in my relationship with Jesus.
Do you have any advice either way?
