Here are a few of my favorite Red Carpet Fashions from the 2012 Oscars along with the reasons I choose them.

Louise Roe, New Fashion Editor-At-Large from US Glamour Magazine, stood out in her custom Black Halo gown accented by Jacqueline Nerguizian jewels.  I loved the fact that she was able to look fabulous without revealing too much.

Ellie Kemper in Armani Prive.  This dress as one of my favorites because of the overall simple image that is created.  I love the way the  bronze and gold tones in the dress compliment the auburn hue in her hair and are perfectly complimented with the gold earrings and clutch tho I would have done without the bracelets because I think they are just a little too much.  Although this is a strapless dress, Ellie has the figure to wear it without revealing too much.

Oscars red carpet: Penelope Cruz Armani Prive

Penelope Cruz looked stunning in this lavender dress by Armani Prive I chose this dress because it flows perfectly as she walks.  If people will be watching as you walk, always choose a dress that will flow. A simple fitted dress that flows as you walk will almost always be a show stopper!

Gwyneth Paltrow looked like pure class in this simple ivory dress with matching cape.  You don’t need extra flash if you have perfect posture, a perfectly fitted outfit in a perfectly flattering color for your  hair, eyes and skin tone.  Because this ensemble reminds us that sometimes less is best, I included this outfit as one of my favorites.

Meryl Streep in Lanvin
This gold metallic dress worn by 17 time nominated actress, Meryl Streep, was not by far the most beautiful, but I selected it as one of my top choices because she created exactly the image she desired. Meryl is the master of creating believable characters on screen through her acting skills, hair, make-up and wardrobe. It’s astounding how she brought Margaret Thatcher to life in THE IRON LADY. It’s no coincidence that Meryl chose a metallic gown for her 17th nomination. When Meryl won the Oscar for Best Actress in her role in SOPHIE’S CHOICE, she was also wearing gold. I think Meryl made a powerful fashion statement by wearing the color of the Oscar statue again this year. Congratulations Meryl on your 17th Best Actress nomination and 3rd win!
