“Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!” (Luke 12:24)

Perhaps the sweetest words that came from our Savior’s lips were uttered in what we call the Sermon on the Mount.

In this well-known and well-loved passage, Jesus reminds his followers why they never need to worry–we have a Father in Heaven!  Heavenly logic argues from the lesser to the greater:  If God makes sure the tummies of the ravens are full, and that the lilies of the field are well-dressed, then human beings, who are of infinitely more worth than plants or animals, must conclude that they shall be well-cared for, indeed.

If there’s no reason for worry, then the flame of anxiety is extinguished. Jesus is aiming at the root of worry: fear.  By directing us to the truth that we are the Father’s highest concern, the entire premise for worry is knocked out. When God blew into the nostrils of man His own eternal breath, we became living souls.  He didn’t do that with the animals. When Christ hung on the cross, we became redeemed spirits.  He didn’t do that for the plants.

His love is demonstrated toward us who believe, and if we believe, His love puts an end to the tyranny of anxiety.

At this time, we ask you refrain from purchasing on the Sonoma Christian Home store. We are in the process of performing updates and in the meantime we would ask you hold off on new orders. We will make an announcement once our store is back in action! Dismiss
