I am more of a Martha than a Mary. I love to multi-task and burn the midnight oil. But when it comes to my husband, I have disciplined myself to stop my whirlwind of activities and give him my full attention. I love to focus on the gift that he is. Some days it’s harder than others to do this, but I’m always on the lookout for ways to bless my beloved.

Many nights it’s the comfort of a fire that slows me down. Recently we bought a new fire pit for our back deck. I love to sit outside on the deck with my beloved and relax and talk. Sometimes we have a glass of wine and just listen to the wind. Sometimes we just hold hands or sit quietly and read the bible. Our son Jack marvels at the flames.

Some nights I light candles all over the house to make the evening feel more intimate and special. It almost feels as though time slows down, just ever a tiny bit. I know my beloved feels appreciated when I slow down and give him my undivided attention. Most nights I rub his feet while he reads the bible to me and Jack. I can tell he feels honored and blessed. He smiles that movie star smile at me and time stands still.

What do you do to slow down and honor your husband? We would be blessed to hear your ideas.
