Movie Reporter Cheryl Ariaz Wicker interviews veteran Christian rocker John Schlitt exclusively for Sonoma Christian Home. Schlitt is the lead singer for the Grammy Award winning group Petra.
Petra is a music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres. Formed in 1972, the band took its name from the Greek word for “rock.” Though formally disbanding in 2006, incarnations of Petra have played reunion shows in the years since and released an album in November 2010.
They’ve won multiple Grammy and Dove awards and have been honored by being inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and the Hard Rock Cafe.
I have always loved Petra, even through the changes. And it is wonderful to see and hear what John has been doing since Petra disbanded. I’d like to know where the rest of the guys are, too.
Knowing where John came from pre-Petra, it’s great to hear his heart for Christ & Christian music.
