Hope for Hurting Hearts, produced by Harvest Ministries with Greg Laurie, has been selected as a Feature Documentary winner at the Gideon Media Arts Conference and Film Festival, to be held in Orlando, Florida in July.

According to a news release made available to the ASSIST News Service, the award represents the eleventh film festival category win or category official selection for the film.

“We were honored … to screen Harvest Ministries’ first film, Lost Boy: The Next Chapter at Gideon in 2010. So when Harvest submitted their most recent film, Hope for Hurting Hearts, for the Gideon 2014 Film Festival, we were excited. We knew the production value would be stellar and the content would be spiritually life-changing. And we weren’t disappointed,” said Lori Marett, director of the festival, speaking in the release.

Marett added, “We are proud to say that Hope for Hurting Hearts was not only one of eleven chosen as an official selection, but the first film we endorsed for the G14 Film Festival! This film blesses and equips – powerful!”

Other film festivals where Hope for Hurting Hearts has been recognized as a Best Documentary Winner, Official Selection or singled out for a special “best of show” award include the Churches Making Movies Christian Film Festival (two honors), the Christian Life International Film Festival, the International Christian Film Festival, the Nevada Film Festival (Special Jury Award), the Central Florida Christian Film Festival, and The GloryReelz Christian Film Festival.

The film has gathered these awards in a period of only months, the first one earned in Sept. 2013.

Dwight Thompson Jr., director and executive producer said in the news release, “In the making of the film, it was our intent to point people from all walks of life and circumstances to find hope in Christ. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, things of this world grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”

He added, “I want to thank the Gideon Media Arts Conference and Film Festival for this award and its recognition of our film, but most importantly, for recognizing the life-changing message that it brings to all of us.”

Laurie is the senior pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, one of the largest churches in the U.S. He is also the founder and evangelist for Harvest Crusades, evangelistic outreach events that have drawn more than 4.7 million people to stadiums and arenas around the world since 1990.
