Summer is a time to enjoy family, the innocent world of children, the wonder of nature and animals, as well as good stories that celebrate what is innocent, beautiful and good. Good summer movies can strengthen families. On June 25, Box Office Mojo reported that Finding Dory is number one at the box office. In this film, Dory remembers that she has a mommy and daddy and gets help from friends to find them.
Box Office Mojo also reported that other good movies that strengthen family bonds and values are in theaters at the top of the box office: Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book, and Zootopia. Fandango reports that family movies, Miracles From Heaven and Ratchet and Clank are still in theaters.
Further, all over the country theaters offer special family, classic movies at minimal cost. Park, church and civic programs are offering free indoor and outdoor family movies. There are many wonderful family movies offered this summer that provide a refreshing, fun, family break in the midst of outdoor activities.
Some of the most promising, hopeful, inspirational family movies due out in theaters for a range of ages in days ahead include: I’m Not Ashamed, BFG, The Secret Life of Pets, Star Trek Beyond, and Ben-Hur. Many other family movies are in development: Left Behind 2, Full of Grace, Do You Believe 2, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, Ten Commandments, King David, Apostle Paul (with Hugh Jackman), Pontius Pilate, Butterfly Circus, The Adventures of Tintin 2, Touchdown on the Tundra, Wanted, The Passion of the Christ 2, a slate of HD Texas movies and more.
Disney also has many promising family, classic, live-action remakes in development that include: Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins Returns, Aladdin, Mulan, Dumbo, Winnie-the-Pooh, The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Tinker Bell, Chip ‘n Dale and more. Hold out for the best. Don’t settle for less than the best. Return to innocence, beauty and wonder with families and friends.
