Known as "The Father of the American Revolution," his name was Samuel Adams, born SEPTEMBER 27, 1722."Government has no right to absolute, arbitrary power over the lives and fortunes of the people;nor can mortals assume a prerogative...reserved for the exercise of the Deity alone."
October 5th – American Minute -Jonathan Edwards
He entered Yale College at age 13 and graduated with honors.He became a pastor, and his sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God," started The Great Awakening Revival. His name was Jonathan Edwards, born OCTOBER 5, 1703.
October 4th – American Minute – 1983, The Year of the Bible
On OCTOBER 4, 1982, President Ronald Reagan signed the Bill making 1983 the "Year of the Bible":"Now, therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, in recognition of the contributions and influence of the Bible on our Republic and our people, do hereby proclaim 1983 the Year of the Bible in the United States.
October 2nd – American Minute – Historian Arnold Joseph Toynbee
Historian Arnold Joseph Toynbee died OCTOBER 2, 1975. Educated at Oxford "almost entirely in the Greek and Latin Classics," Toynbee taught at King's College of London, the London School of Economics, and the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
