July 25th – American Minute – First Four star General, Ulysses S. Grant

Elected the 18th President, Grant supported ratification of the 15th Amendment, guaranteeing freed slaves the right to vote, and he signed the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, limiting Democrat vigilante and lynching activity in the South. ‘Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.’ Yours respectfully, U.S. Grant.”

July 22nd – American Minute – Carl Sandburg Died

"I see America not in the setting sun of a black night of despair... I see America in the crimson light of a rising sun fresh from the burning, creative hand of God," wrote poet Carl Sandburg, who died JULY 22, 1967.

July 18th – American Minute – The French and Indian Wars

George Washington described the Battle of Monongahela to his younger brother, John Augustine Washington, JULY 18, 1755:"... I have been protected beyond all human probability or expectation; for I had four bullets through my coat, and two horses shot under me, yet escaped unhurt, although death was leveling my companions on every side of me!"

July 21st – American Minute – The Scopes Monkey Trial

In 1925, Clerance Darrow defended John Scopes, a Tennessee High school biology teacher found guilty of teaching a theory of origins called "evolution. The Scopes Monkey Trial ended JULY 21, 1925. The attorney defending creation was William Jennings Bryan, the Democrat Party's three time candidate for President.

July 17th – American Minute – Bartolome’ de Las Casas

Las Casas became the first priest ordained in the New World. He dedicated his life to stopping the enslavement of Indians. He was officially appointed "Protector of the Indians." Las Casas is considered one of the first advocates for universal Human Rights.
