Christopher Columbus was looking for a SEA route to India and China because 40 years earlier in 1453, Muslim Turks conquered Constantinople cutting off the LAND routes.
September 7th – American Minute – The First Session of the Continental Congress
SEPTEMBER 7, 1774, the First Session of the Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall, Philadelphia. Rev. Mr. Duche' opened the meeting by reading the 35th Psalm, which was in the Anglican Book of Common Prayer as the "Psalter" for that day.
