He walked in with his small frame, black, faded rocker boots, a mowhawk without limits, and a black leather jacket that showed the broken-in wear of many nights on stage. He sat down, picked up the mic, and with an easygoing smile began to captivate the room with his story, his purpose, and his passion. Little did I know from his humble persona how he would rock the house later that evening.
Lincoln Brewster’s Joy to the World CD and whirlwind of a Christmas Tour are the result of the prayers of he and his wife, as they were awaiting God’s next direction in their lives. The sole purpose of this project is to raise money for the Covenant Kids Congo ministry that is powered by World Vision.
This organization focuses on creating better lives for the children of the Congo, one of the most impoverished areas of the world, by channeling their efforts towards long-term solutions in community development by building and strengthening church congregations, the school systems that serve 60,000 children, and numerous medical clinics that provide care to the Congolese people.
Aside from all the ticket and album sales going directly to Covenant Kids Congo, at each show of his Christmas tour Lincoln Brewster auctions off a Fender Stratocaster with custom designed artwork by famed artist and America’s Got Talent finalist, David Garibaldi.
This particular Strat auctioned off for $5,000 at the December 5th concert, bringing the total raised to date to nearly $45,000. God can do amazing things with a willing heart!
Lincoln’s interpretation of Christmas music that has enchanted millions for generations is that of one true to musical integrity yet overflowing with artistic genius. He made what has been played over and over be given new life to where it still had the comforts of home but simultaneously awakened the soul. He literally brought many to tears in worship of our Savior.
But of the evening, nothing compared to the moment that began with quiet as he stood centerstage with the spotlight, that beautifully reminded me of God’s light, enveloping him. His electric guitar resting so easily against his body he strummed the first chords of the second half of “Miraculum”.
I have never been so moved by an instrumental piece as I was then. The notes reached out from the guitar and permeated our skin all the way to the depths of our souls. Chills fell over us as the bass shook us to our very core and we succumbed to the melody.
Lincoln ended the evening by reminding us to savor this sweet season and to not relinquesh our time of worship with the King to the busyness of this time of year. To take time to rest, love, and cherish. Life is fleeting and these moments God gave us to have with our family are meant to be taken in, enjoyed, and etched in our memory. Have a very hopeful, joyful, and enchanting Christmas ~ to you and yours.
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,
glory as of the only begotten from the Father,
full of grace and truth.
John 1:14
