It’s the middle of the week: rushing to meet deadlines, creating next week’s busy schedule, and juggling everyday life while striving for the rest of the weekend only to start again on Monday. Matt Redman said, “The point behind the song is this: if you wake up one morning and you cannot think of a reason to bring God some kind of offering of thanks or praise, then you can be sure there’s something wrong at your end of the pipeline, and not His.” While listening to this song, ponder all the reasons you have to worship God; what has He done in your life?
Matt Redman wrote 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) with Jonas Myrin in response to Psalm 103. Their main purpose while writing this song was to see God in their lives then reflect it. “It’s a perfect song when you are in a dry patch in your relationship with God; you’ll always find something to praise God for.”
This is song is my mantra! I play it every morning before I do my devotion, and want it played at my funeral ( I’m 54, so hopefully that will be a ways away!). There’s so much that has happened in my life where I’ve needed God to get me thru and He has! Even now, my plate is full from a disease that leaves me in constant pain, elderly parents that are struggling with their health, my only Aunt who’s now in hospice care, and adult kids who are prodigals, and raising my grand children outside of the church. This song speaks so eloquently to and for my heart. So grateful for Matt Redman and his ministry!
