The Red Sea lay before them, mountains were on both sides, the chariots of Egypt’s army were bearing down from behind! No visible means of escape! That’s the situation the Children of Israel found themselves in. It was a total surprise, for after all, Pharaoh had just let the people leave Egypt, saying, “Good riddance!”
But after the people left, the Egyptian king had a change of heart. Suddenly Pharaoh realized he had just fired his labor force, and he wanted them back. You know the story—God miraculously blew back the waters of the Red Sea so that His people could cross on dry land. But when Pharaoh and his forces tried to follow, the walls of water descended, and they all drowned.
Can you imagine the on-cloud-nine joy of God’s people? A song of praise surged from their hearts: “I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea. He is my God, and I will praise him” (Exodus 15:1,2).
Notice that phrase “He is my God.” The God they were singing about was the one who had brought them out of Egypt. But now He was also the God of the Red Sea crossing! Now they knew the God of the impossible was their God!
What kind of God do you have today? Is He the God of impossible situations? An old gospel chorus based on a song written during the building of the Panama Canal, says,
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible.
And He can do what no other one can do.
Today is the perfect time to invite God to take charge of your life. Offer Him the throne of your life and He will be your God when you face the Impossible Situations.
