Brian Wilson and Graham Nash are featured in a new emotionally charged documentary that focuses on the impact that country star Lee Ann Womack‘s 2000 hit “I Hope You Dance” has had on a number of people’s lives.  I Hope You Dance: The Power and Spirit of Song will get its television premiere on Thanksgiving, November 26, on the  Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

The movie looks at how the song, which was written Mark Sanders and Tia Sillers, has been a source of inspiration and empowerment for various  individuals, including a woman who gives dance lessons to homeless  people, a man uses the tune’s positive message to honor his late  daughter  and a woman who underwent an amazing recovery from a severe  spinal injury.  Nash and Wilson appear in the film to discuss the  importance of music as a source of healing and connecting with others.

“Music can heal a lot,” says Brian in a scene from one of the film’s trailers.  “Not physical wounds but, you know, wounds to your soul.   Music can do a lot of good.”

As for Graham, he notes in the promo clip that he considers music “the ultimate form of communication.”

I Hope You Dance: The Power and Spirit of Song was directed by John Scheinfeld, whose previous films include The U.S. vs. John Lennon andWho Is Harry Nilsson?  Other stars appearing in the film include Womack,Vince Gill and late author and actress Maya Angelou.

Following its TV debut, the documentary will be released as a DVD onDecember 1, and a companion book titled I Hope You Dance: The Power of Spirit and Song (Stories from the John Scheinfeld Film) will be published the same day.
