In 2010, the world turned its attention to Chile after a terrible explosion in a 100-year old gold and copper mine. Over a period of 69 days, teams worked day and night to return these men home and to the love of their families.

The 33 is based on this event. 33 miners become trapped with limited food, water, and no medical supplies. They are trapped almost 200 stories underground. Only extensive drilling and vast amounts of money can save these men. The Chilean government doesn’t even want to intervene, offering kind words, but no action. Families and friends gather around the mine, praying and hoping for the safety of these men.

Underground, miners spirits fluctuate. They miss their families. They Don’t know if they are going to live or die. Instead of turning on each other, these men go to amazing lengths to help each other. The miners believe that the only way out is through the help of God.

Life is full of hardship and feeling buried alive. we all have feelings of self doubt. We all become stressed. We all spread ourselves to thin. At some point or another, in each of our lives, the mine is going to collapse. This movie demonstrates a lesson we can all incorporate into our lives, God is the only way we can survive. God is always there for us and God will always help us return to the surface.

Don’t miss your chance to watch this story of salvation, redemption and compassion as these men fight for their lives, when The 33 comes to theaters Friday November 13th!
