“It feels so good to be getting new music out to the fans,” says Lee Ann, who’s collaborated with Miller, Rodney Crowell, George Strait, Willie Nelson and Alan Jackson over the past several years. “I live to sing great songs that tear holes in life – just show living for what it is. I was fired up going into the studio, and Matt (Chamberlin), Duke (Levine), Glen (Worf, Jr), Mac (McAnally), Paul (Franklin) and all the amazing players who came by took me to an even higher place inside these songs.
“And knowing these songs were written to be performed, not pitched, sets a bar! Every songwriter wrote intending to sing’em, to tell these stories, show these postcards, and you can feel the way they built the characters! Bringing that to music was just so incredible for everyone on the sessions.”
Chances Are Lyrics
Chances are I took the wrong turn
Every time I had a turn to take
And I guess I broke my own heart
Every chance I had a heart to break
And it seems I spent my whole life
Wishin’ on the same unlucky star
And as I watch you ‘cross the barroom
I wonder what my chances are
Well, I know you’ve been around
And you’ve seen what you needed to see
And at night when you’re dreamin’
You’re probably not dreamin’ ’bout me
Oh, it’s safe to say I’ve stumbled
But I’ve managed to make it through this far
And as I take one step and then another
I wonder what my chances are
I have watched the world go by, hand in hand
And wondered why I’m still so alone
Could I lay down my foolish pride
And maybe finally find my heart a home?
Band just started playing
A simple songs I used to know
I take your hand and walk you out
Dance to the rhythm way down low
Every heart has got a story
But mine just has few more scars
But they could heal if you would hold me
And tell me what my chances are
Well, they could heal if you would hold me
And tell me what my chances are
