Wonder Woman movie is in theaters June 2, 2017.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment comes the epic action adventure starring Gal Gadot (Furious 7), Chris Pine (Star Trek franchise), Connie Nielson (Gladiator) and Robin Wright, directed by Patty Jenkins.
Wonder Woman is breaking multiple records. First, it is set to be the highest grossing film ever to be directed by a woman. Besides that, it is the first female superhero film to ever gross over $45 million at the box office.
It has grossed far over $45 million. As of June 18th, the film has already received over $275 million in ticket sales domestically. When you factor in foreign markets, Wonder Woman has grossed almost $575 million. The producers will have no trouble paying back investors, with a budget of only $150 million. To put that in perspective, Man of Steel (a previous film from DC Entertainment) made $248 million in the same time frame on a budget of $225 million.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Wonder Woman is more appropriate than most superhero movies these days (especially from DC Entertainment). There is minimal profanity (although there are several uses of ‘hell’ and God’s name in vain). There are some scenes with suggestive sexual content, as well as violence, so it would be a good idea to think twice before showing the film to young children.
In the movie, Wonder Woman is a strong moral compass. Coming from a secluded people group to aid the “civilized” world, her innocence is more than noticeable. She is unwavering in her quest to save the world, which may give audiences a better picture of Jesus’ motives to save a dying world.
