Fathom Events announces that the IS GENESIS HISTORY? documentary on creation has earned a one-year anniversary encore presentation in theaters on February 22, 2018. To date, over 850 theater locations have been secured.
This one-night event meets the overwhelming demand that the film continues to receive from audiences seeking answers to the origin of life and the reliability of scripture. For this event, new bonus material has been added to the original film, including host Dr. Del Tackett touring the Ark Encounter while he discusses the film’s topics with a group of college students.
It’s perhaps more important than ever to inform ourselves and our children of the evidence behind creation. So often we get bombarded by evidence for molecules-to-man evolution, and when there’s no one to balance those assertions our biblical point of view can seem silly. However, we aren’t silly to believe God created the world! We do have a foundation to stand on, and that’s what this film is about.
IS GENESIS HISTORY? first released on February 23, 2017 to incredible audience support and sold-out auditoriums around the country. The film ranked No. 1 at the box office for the day, achieved the No. 1 per screen average, and according to Variety Magazine landed as Fathom Events’ No. 1 event in the inspirational category for 2017.
Since last year’s theatrical events, IS GENESIS HISTORY? has only gained momentum. When released on alternate formats, the film debuted at the #10 spot on the iTunes Independent Films Chart and has been a regular fixture on the Amazon Documentary charts since its DVD release. It also released on Netflix in June 2017.
Interest generated by the film has launched ancillary products including the IS GENESIS HISTORY? 2017 Conference, the IS GENESIS HISTORY? VIDEO BIBLE STUDY, and the new BEYOND IS GENESIS HISTORY? video series available on Amazon Video. When creating the original film, the filmmakers had over 40 hours of interviews that were condensed into a 100-minute film. BEYOND IS GENESIS HISTORY? delves deeper into specific topics, sharing the additional interviews and information. The first volume, “Rocks & Fossils,” includes 20 new videos and over six hours of new footage and significant new evidence regarding Creation and the Flood. Volumes 2 and 3 will be released Spring 2018.
Tackett states, “IS GENESIS HISTORY? has far surpassed our expectations. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Fathom Events on an anniversary theatrical screening. Many have expressed interest that they would like the opportunity to share the film experience with their friends on the big screen. We hope this additional screening will help open up conversations and continue to inspire people to seek out answers to life’s biggest questions.”
About the film:
Through on-location interviews with scientists and scholars, IS GENESIS HISTORY? examines the two conflicting histories about the origins of the Earth and the Universe. With an immense body of new research and discoveries, IS GENESIS HISTORY? unpacks and presents positive, evidence-based arguments for the credibility of the Bible as accurate history.
Host Dr. Del Tackett introduces viewers to experts in a variety of areas including biology, geology, astronomy, archaeology, philosophy, theology, and paleontology. Tackett and the film crew travel the continent, examining scientific data at its source from the perspective of the history recorded in Genesis. This documentary on creation explores questions such as soft tissue in dinosaurs, the accuracy of radiometric dating, the nature of the genome, the timeline of natural history, the design of the universe, and the reality of a global flood.
From the filmmaker:
Director and Producer Thomas Purifoy Jr. states, “We continue to be encouraged by the outpouring of people’s interest for the documentary on creation. Questions regarding our origins matter, and we hope the film continues to find an audience that wants to understand the tough questions of life, science, and faith.”
