Faith and family-friendly movies continue demonstrating staying power. On March 8, On DVD Release.com reports that the top movie released to DVD today is The Peanuts Movie (one of the rare redemptive, uplifting G movies for all ages).
In a recent exclusive interview Craig Schultz (son of creator of The Peanuts and writer for The Peanuts Movie and director, Steve Martino, talked with Austin Movie Examiner on the Red Carpet for the Movieguide® Awards about the importance of good values and qualities in a movie as more important than winning awards, about the significance of timeless messages, and the need for movies that do not embarrass and shock audiences.
They told how Charlie Brown never kicks the football or wins but demonstrates character qualities that are more important than winning. The classic Peanuts characters under current careful supervision keep on presenting timeless truths through their stories during holiday seasons and throughout the year. With it continuing popularity for almost 60 years, this franchise also demonstrates the staying power of skillful redemptive storytelling that appeals to all ages.
On March 8, On DVD Release also reports the redemptive movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015) (PG-13, teens through adults) is the current top-selling DVD overall, although it is selling in pre-release with its release date set for March 22. It is also the top-selling DVD in the action and sci-fi categories.
Other redemptive, family movies for a range of ages continue as top-sellers. In the African American category, War Room is still a top-selling DVD. In the animation category, Zootopia (which is currently the number one movie in theaters and on pre-release sale as a DVD) is the top-selling DVD as a redemptive, family, PG movie for older children through adults.
Other top-selling, good, family DVDs in the animation category are the following: The Peanuts Movie, The Good Dinosaur, and Inside Out (that recently won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature). Pan and Max remain as top-selling DVDs in the family category. Risen (that is an outstanding movie in theaters for the Easter Season) is the top-selling DVD in pre-release in the historical category and a top-selling DVD in the mystery category.
Woodlawn is a still a top-selling DVD in the sports category. Movieguide® provides reviews of these movies and for many more in theaters and on DVD. See Sonoma Christian Home.com for trailers, videos, and news on these movies and more.
It is wonderful to note that these top-selling DVDs produced in 2015 are all movies honored at the recent Movieguide® Awards and these 2016 movies in top sales in pre-release as DVDs are also movies that Movieguide® has highly rated. Over many years honors at the annual Movieguide® Awards Galas line up with box office and DVD top sales and demonstrate the strength, general popularity, and staying power of faith and family-friendly movies.
