September 22nd – American Minute – Nathan Hale
"I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country" were the last words of 21-year-old American patriot Nathan Hale, who was hanged by the British without a trial on SEPTEMBER 22, 1776.
September 21st – American Minute – Calvin Coolidge
On SEPTEMBER 21, 1924, America's 30th President, Calvin Coolidge, addressed the Holy Name Society in Washington, D.C., saying: "The worst evil that could be inflicted upon the youth of the land would be to leave them without restraint and completely at the mercy of their own uncontrolled inclinations.
September 20th – American Minute – Fisher Ames
He helped ratify the U.S. Constitution and was a Congressman from Massachusetts. On August 20, 1789, he proposed as the wording of the First Amendment (Annals of Congress, 1:766):“Congress shall make no law establishing religion, or to prevent the free exercise thereof, or to infringe the rights of conscience.”His name was Fisher Ames.

On SEPTEMBER 19, 1796, President George Washington delivered his Farewell Address. "Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle..."
September 18th – American Minute – John Langdon
John Langdon, a member of the Continental Congress, built ships to raid the British, signed the Constitution and died SEPTEMBER 18, 1819.
September 17th – American Minute – The Last Line is Written
"Done...the SEVENTEENTH DAY of SEPTEMBER, in the year of our LORD one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven." This is the last line of the U.S. Constitution.
