Jefferson Bethke was inspired to write this poem by the book Surprised by Hope. The most important thing he wants people to know is that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. His poem was written in his pursuit of truth in this life.
In his video, he compares Jesus’ death and resurrection to a debt being paid. It’s as if when Jesus died, He paid the debt for our sin, and when He rose, the payment was accepted. It’s truly amazing to think about. God loved us so much that He sent His own son to die for us to restore our relationship with Him.
Our God is truly worthy of praise!
