From the cousin team of faith filmmakers—Director Chad Burns and Producer Aaron Burns—Beyond the Mask was co-written by Stephen Kendrick—producer and writer of War Room, the current box-office sensation—and Paul McCusker (Adventures in Odyssey).

Now available on DVD nationwide, the swashbuckling faith film Beyond the Mask is record-setter for Theatrical On Demand distribution. Beyond the Mask also earned 87 percent fan approval on Rotten Tomatoes and turned in robust box office sales.

“A groundbreaking, fast-paced action adventure with computer-generated images rivaling anything out of Hollywood.” – The Baptist Press

The leading mercenary for the British East India Company, Will Reynolds, has been double-crossed and now is on the run in the American colonies. Working to redeem his  name and win back the woman with whom he’s never been fully truthful, Will takes on a new mask in hopes of thwarting his former employer. As his past life closes in  on him, Will somehow must gain the trust and help of his beloved Charlotte—as well as Ben Franklin—while he races time to defuse a plot of historical proportions. Beyond the Mask is a revolutionary new family film that brings history to life in a faith-filled adventure celebrating grace, liberty and the true freedom that can only be found in Christ.

From Kickstarter to Record-Breaker, ‘Beyond the Mask’ Breaks New Ground for Faith Films

What a story! Homeschooled cousins—and filmmakers—go bold with a Kickstarter campaign for a faith film that reaches new heights of Computer Generated Images and stakes out the action-adventure genre. Then, first distributed by Gathr’s on-demand platform, Beyond the Mask opens at a record-setting 440-plus theaters nationwide with record box office results guaranteed before the premiere. That leads to a national theatrical release with Freestyle Releasing, praise from critics and fans and, now, a DVD release. Talk to cousins and filmmakers Chad and Aaron Burns about this remarkable journey.

A Hero’s Words from ‘Beyond the Mask’s’ Villain—John Rhys-Davies

He was the villain in Beyond the Mask, the beloved dwarf Gimli in The Lord of the Rings and is an articulate commenter on the plight of Christians in the Middle East and what that portends for Western civilization. Renowned actor John Rhys-Davies grew up in post-World War II Europe and knows something of the many faces of evil. He talked on Adam Corolla’s podcast about the dangers of the West losing “our moral compass.” Hear John’s podcast here.
