Daily there are news reports of cutting edge developments with streaming technologies and services for video and music for all ages, educational levels, and cultural backgrounds. On February 16, the St. Louis Dispatch reports that the New Yorker magazine, known for its sophisticated satire and cartoons, is coming to video streaming. “It’s pretty much the magazine in video form,” producer Alex Gibney says. On February 16, Barrons reports on how ” Pandora Steals Streaming Crown From Netflix.” Barrons updates streaming services and their interconnection with Pandora, a free personalized internet radio service.

Further, on February 16, The Drum reports on “Why streaming services play a vital role in building a new music economy.” The Drum writes, “Streaming has not only become more mainstream around the world, but its rise has shown that it may actually help bolster the staggering music industry. For those wanting to have a positive, constructive, uplifting impact on the world at large through their performances, using the best cinematography and music with streaming performances is highly significant.

Fortunately, some of the best, user-friendly free music and cinematographic quality video streaming performances are being transmitted from some of America’s best performing arts facilities and are available to enrich the world over the WWW. For example, The Kennedy Center presents ongoing free live, filmed, and archived streaming of some of the best American and international artists.

On February 16, The Kennedy Center provides live, free streaming of musicians from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University in the Terrace Theater. They will perform songs and arias for soprano by Massenet, Schumann, Burleigh, and Puccini; a movement from Marschnerr’s Sonata for Violin; Ravel’s Tzigane; Debussy’s Sonata for Cello and Piano; Liszt’s Consolation No. 3 in D-flat major; and Paraphrase de concert sur Rigoletto for piano. Tomorrow the live stream is of musicians from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in in the Terrace Theater.

They will perform Shaw’s Entr’acte for string quartet; Zhang’s Between Love and Pain; Williams’s Meditation I; Goodhart’s Prelude and Gigue; and Riley’s Sunrise of the Planetary Dream Collector. Through February 22, musicians from other notable schools of music will perform for live and filmed archival streaming: Cleveland Institute of Music, Yale School of Music, Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Juilliard School of Music.

Today and every day Your Classical.org provides free curated musical streams in the following categories: relaxation, romance, lullabies, energy, movies, choral and more. Regularly St. Olaf College, known for its excellent music program, provides free streams from chapel services and performances. Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust streams ongoing performances over the WWW from Idea Stream.org. The Metropolitan Opera provides free live, audio streams of their live performances. Even YouTube provides many fine performances with excellent cinematography and music.

Here is where Christian artists can especially effectively impact the world with artistic videos that convey our Lord’s eternal Good News.  Modern technology is providing ever improving conduits for performances that inspire and uplift the world over, especially for Eternal Good.
