On the night of principal Suzanne Waters’ retirement, she is faced with a series of events that she would not have imagined.
While her pregnant daughter-in-law Jessica is in the process of driving herself to the hospital, she must pull over to the side of the road due to labor pains. Approaching the vehicle with intentions to rob her, delinquent teenager Eli notices the pain Jessica is facing and decides to drive her to the hospital instead.
However, when Eli arrives at the hospital, an officer spots him and arrests him for prior warrants. When Jessica realizes what is happening, she asks her mother-in-law to find Eli and thank him for his kind gesture.
Upon Suzanne finding Eli in a juvenile home, she senses God directing her to move “North,” and ultimately takes him in.
