On March 12, Box Office Mojo makes it clear that inspiring, redemptive, family movies remain at the top of the box office for this week. Zootopia continues as number one in the box office. This top animated Walt Disney movie about a rabbit and fox who work together to solve a case is entertaining, heartwarming, and beautifully animated for older children through adults.  Zootopia (PG-13, older children through adults) has broad, universal, intergenerational appeal with themes that counter bullying and negative stereotypes, as well as encouraging getting along with different kinds of people.

Another must-see movie for the Easter Season out in theaters this weekend is The Young Messiah (PG-13, for children through adults). It is a wonderful movie for the whole family with outstanding music, cinematography, and acting. It is a singular unique movie because it presents Jesus Christ as a child.

According to Box Office Mojo, Risen (PG-13, teens and adults) is still doing well at the box office. It is another a must-see movie for the Easter Season. Joseph Fiennes provides an outstanding, captivating performance against cinematographic international locations.

Both Risen and The Young Messiah are inspired by Biblical accounts and take some license for dramatic effects. Both have excellent acting, cinematography, music and more. . . The Young Messiah depicts Roman brutality but in ways that are appropriate for older children through adults. The Young Messiah is unique in that it presents Jesus Christ as a spiritually-sensitive child. It, therefore, provides a spiritual role model for children through adults. Risen is more appropriate for teens and adults due to stronger depictions of Roman brutality.

This week another wonderful redemptive family movie opens in theaters. It is Miracles From Heaven with Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah. It is based on a true story of a young girl, played wonderfully by Kylie Rogers, debilitated with an incurable digestive disorder. Her Texas family perseveres for four years to care for her, when she is amazingly healed when all options for her recovery are gone. This movie, like Young Messiah, is appropriate for older children though adults. Like Risen and The Young Messiah it is a must-see movie for the Easter Season.

Sonoma Christian Home has screened and interviewed for these movies. They are all highly recommended as the top picks for this week.  Risen is recommended as suitable for teens through adults. The Young Messiah and Miracles From Heaven are recommended for all ages. See trailers, news, interviews and more for these movies on Sonoma Christian Home. Happy Easter!
