Watch Jefferson Bethke’s video about how Jesus loves us despite our sin!
Imagine if when you were born you had to earn your parents’ love. If you eat well, if you sleep well, if you don’t cause trouble, then you get their love. But if you cry, or if you make a mess, or if you keep your parents up all night then they withhold their love for you until you get better.
That’s how Jefferson Bethke’s video starts. Bethke came onto the scene back in 2012 when he released his hit video ‘Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus’ video, which garnered over 30 million views over its lifetime. Since then, he’s created a number of videos, written two books, and started an online course about marriage.
This video in particular is about love. When we grow up, the world teaches us that we need to earn love. We do well in school, work hard at our jobs, and put on a false front all so we can gain approval. Because of this environment, we naturally think God works the same way. However, he doesn’t. God doesn’t love us because of what we do. He loves us unconditionally, and because of that love we can find meaning in everything else. In fact, God loves us so much that He send His only son into this broken world to take the punishment for sin that we deserved! Now that is love!
