Watch ‘The Nativity Story‘ Christmas movie trailer below!

The Nativity Story is a 2006 adaptation of the timeless story of Jesus’ birth. The film was produced by Temple Hill Entertainment and distributed by New Line Cinema. The movie gives a beautiful presentation of the social and personal struggles Mary went through during her pregnancy, as well as a foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice Christ would pay on the cross. The Nativity Story is not biblically accurate in every respect. The wise men visit Jesus on the day he is born, and the film doesn’t portray the multitude of angels singing before the shepherds. However, despite these few inaccuracies, The Nativity Story does an excellent job of bringing the time period to life, and does not compromise when it comes to the overarching story of the gospel.

The Nativity Story stars Keisha Castle-Hughes and Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi). In 2006, the movie made over $45 million worldwide at the box office, instantly becoming a classic Christmas movie for a generation of Christians. Since 2006, there have been a number of other films about the story of Jesus’ birth (including The Star), but no other movie has managed to capture the heart of Christmas in the way The Nativity Story does.

Christmas movies are an essential part of the Christmas season for many, and there are so many to choose from. It seems every holiday movie has a message, whether it be good or bad. However, nothing compares to the story of Jesus! He is the reason we love each other. He’s the reason we forgive. He’s the reason we celebrate Christmas!
