Be still in the presence of the LORD,
and wait patiently for Him to act…
Psalm 37:7

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is be still.

Don’t move or speak or even think if it takes you down a rabbit trail of answers and questions and answers and questions. Those spirals may lead somewhere eventually, but the cost far out-weighs the benefit.

No, sometimes your best input is to rest.
To trust.
To listen.
To soak in the words and works and faithfulness of Another.

I’ve learned this through experience, but gained a better understanding in a recent dream.

I saw myself on an operating table. It seemed a tumor needed to be removed and, as crazy as it sounds, I was performing surgery on myself. As I lay on my back with shoulders up and neck cricked, I opened up my abdomen.

As I stood on the outside, watching myself, I thought, “That’s just crazy! I/she can’t see what she’s doing. She’s going to cut out too much or leave something that needs to be removed.”

The whole thing was so obviously foolish.

Then above it all, You spoke:

Yes. So why do you try to do what only I can do? I know all and see all the healing that is needed. What needs to be removed and sewn up.

Lean back, rest, and let Me change you. Let Me heal you. I do it perfectly. Just rest.”

…For I alone am God!
I am God, and there is none like Me.
Isaiah 46:9
