Known for her roles in Frost Nixon, God’s Country, and Alone Yet Not Alone among many others, Jenn Gotzon is a force to be reckoned with. She shares her unshakeable faith humbly yet with contagious boldness.
Sonoma Christian Home caught up with busy actress, Jenn Gotzon minutes after she walked the red carpet of Princess Cut’s North Carolina premiere. She literally hopped into the passenger seat of a car and took our call while still in her party dress. It has been confirmed that her shoes were kicked off during the hour long chat though. SCH Contributor Dawn Gregg reports.
SCH: How was the premiere of Princess Cut?
JG: Amazing! Really wonderful. Being there with the community who participated in the making of Princess Cut; the locals, the financial backers, the people who donated time, provided the film with locations, et cetera… It really was very rewarding to see the smiles on their faces. And to see their excitement.
SCH: Let’s talk about your character, Brooke, and her struggle with identity. For instance, her relationship status, the occupation of her “fiancé,” and her appearance.
JG: I’m so happy you picked up on the “appearance thing.” Yes. Brooke definitely struggles with identity.
SCH: As so many people do. Can you speak more about that?
JG: Yes! So many young women find their identities in the way they look. Whether it be their physical characteristics – their body image, things like their weight, or their wardrobe. I work with girls in the industry as a motivational speaker. It’s one of my joys.
I take girls through exercises where they are confronted with the truth that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. I remind them that they are creations skillfully crafted by the most talented craftsman of all time. That in Christ, they are princesses. Daughters of the Most High King. The King of creation!
SCH: You speak to church groups, universities, and high schools via your “Inspiring Audiences: Music, Movie & a Message” Public Speaking Program.
JG: Yes! It’s one of my favorite things to do. I absolutely love it.
SCH: We love that you are so vocal about your faith. That is a breath of fresh air.
JG: Yes. This is the calling the Lord has given me. I am here to testify to His goodness wherever He places me.
SCH: Jenn, who is the actress you admire most?
JG: Meryl Streep.
SCH: And do you have a dream role?
JG: Oh, it would be a romantic comedy with a lot of heart, I think.
SCH: It seems as if you are quite the busy lady. Can you tell us about any of the other projects you’ve been working on?
JG: Well, I am working on various different films. I am very passionate about all of them. I just wrapped shooting the female lead in my first comedy feature, Love Different directed by Anthony Hackett. It is scheduled for release during the Winter of 2015 and is going to be fabulous.
It deals with the polar differences between black and white culture. It was so much fun to work on. I was blessed with cameo roles in God’s Not Dead 2 and The Reins Maker. I’ve signed a three year contract with a Cosmetic Line in China which means I will be visiting China again soon.
SCH: Wow, that’s exciting.
JG: It is. It really is. And the company I am representing is owned by a believer, Brother Zhen. His testimony is amazing. And he specifically selected an American actress who loves God as a way to spread hope and love to his country.
SCH: That’s you! Thank you so much for speaking with Sonoma Christian Home today, Jenn.
JG: Thank you!
This lady is one to watch. Not only is she a gifted actress, but she is on fire for the Lord! And that is what makes her stand out in a sea of beauty and talent. Proverbs 31:30 came to mind as the conversation with Jenn came to an end.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
Until next time, Princess!
