Jesus consistently took the facts that were presented to him and overcame them with the truth of who He is.

And now, 0 Lord God, You are God, and Your words are truth, and You have promised this good thing to Your servant.

2 SAMUEL 7:8 (AMP)

I had an interesting conversation with my son Sam when he was about fifteen years old. We talked of the difference between fact and truth. If you look these words up in the dictionary, they mean basically the same thing. But for those who are in Christ Jesus, they become distinctly different.

Facts are all around us as situations and conditions that are reality according to what we know with our five senses. The fact is that we are surrounded by friends, family, or acquaintances who are sick-some whom have even been told they are dying-and others who are hopelessly entangled in addictions and obsessions. The fact is that we have all fallen into temptation and followed the lusts of our flesh, and most of us have been wounded in relationships, some to unimaginable proportions. The fact is that we are surrounded by wars, poverty, and uncertainty.

The fact is that we can pick ourselves and our circumstances apart and find so many things to worry or complain about. This is the reality in which we live. And yet in the midst of this stands truth.

Truth: “When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same any more. A new life has begun” (2 Corinthians S:17, TLS).

Truth: “He personally carried away our sins in his own body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. You have been healed by his wounds” (1 Peter 2:24, NLT).

Truth: “But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy” (Malachi 4:2, AMP).

Truth: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NLT).

Truth: “The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down” (Psalm 145:14, NLT).

Truth: “My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side” (Psalm 56:9, NIV).

Truth: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18, NIV).

Truth: “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4, NIV).

Jesus consistently took the facts that were presented to him and overcame them with the truth of who He is. Dead men were raised. Blind eyes were opened. Demon-controlled people were given freedom. A man walked on water. Unlearned men spoke with the wisdom of God and adulterous women were given innocence.

O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling” (Psalm 43:3, AMP).
