Jonathan Cahn clearly believes God is shaking this country to wake His people up. He is hopeful America will wake up. Today, we will look at some of the harbingers that have reappeared on American soil and the indisputable evidence for each that is found in Cahn’s book, The Harbinger.
The Breach
The first harbinger according to Cahn is The Breach. On September 11, 2001, America was shaken and her borders were breached as fear and panic swept across this land. My husband and I clearly saw it as a wake-up call and were overjoyed when people immediately began flocking to churches. For the first time in American history, we were attacked within the borders of the continental US. Our protected borders were breached by an outside enemy. Unfortunately, no major revival or repentance occurred, and America continued her turning from God.
In restoring Israel, the people went into the mountains and brought back hewn or quarried stone for the rebuilding. What was formerly built with clay bricks would be replaced with stronger stone.
The first act of rebuilding at Ground Zero was to cut out a massive rectangular block of stone from upstate New York. This stone was laid on the ground where the bricks had fallen. On July 4, 2004, American leaders gathered as NY Governor George Pataki gave some chilling remarks at the dedication of the Laying of the Cornerstone for the Freedom Tower. Although an inspiring speech, his words were telling.
As mentioned earlier in Part I of this interview, it was this fallen sycamore in the courtyard of St. Paul’s Chapel that first drew Jonathan Cahn to see the harbingers and the judgment of God. A sculptor was commissioned to make a cast of the roots of the fallen sycamore (Biblical symbol for judgment). He poured bronze metal into the cast, and the sculpture is now displayed on Wall Street. Cahn sees this memorial as representing the riches of a nation uprooted and overturned in the area where 24 stock brokers once met on May, 1792, underneath a buttonwood tree (today known as the American sycamore tree), to create the Buttonwood Agreement birthing the New York Stock Exchange. “This golden calf,” Cahn contends, “has become another of our idols.”
As Israel replaces the bricks with stone, she also replaces the fallen sycamore with a bigger and stronger cedar. The Hebrew word in Isaiah 9:10 for erez is translated cedar to represent a cone-bearing evergreen of the classification of pinacea. Guess what? This exact harbinger has also manifested itself in America. In November 2003, a ceremonial act took place at the corner of Ground Zero. A tree was lowered by a large crane for all to see on the exact spot where the sycamore had fallen. Now you’re probably saying, “No way.” But, Jonathan Cahn does not pull rabbits out of hats. He provides clear evidence from the Bible and from actual and historical events to prove his claims.
After the attack on Israel, her leaders vowed and boasted of their resolve and ability to bounce back. But it was not a comeback with God at its center. And neither was ours. On the morning after 9/11, Tom Daschle, the Senate majority leader, rose to speak after the Congress issued a joint resolution condemning the attacks and calling for unity to defeat the terrorists. He started by saying, “There is but a passage in Bible from Isaiah that I think speaks to all of us at times like this.” Not realizing he is quoting a passage out of context, he quotes Isaiah 9:10. (No, kidding!)
“Today, on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the Lord’s Word to get us through.”
Then he quotes Isaiah 9:10. Clear evidence that many politicians do not know the rules of hermeneutics or the science of interpreting the Bible. Rule number one is simple—you don’t take a verse out of the context it was written in. Both of these men or their speechwriters failed to realize the context of this passage—defiance after judgment. Although his speech was meant to be inspiring, Edwards continued with his analogy making clear reference to the objects in this passage, not realizing the significance of what he was saying.
On February 22, 2009, President Obama, our newly elected president appeared on Capitol Hill to address America’s economic collapse. He clearly repeated the vow in Isaiah 9:10 when he proclaimed at the pinnacle of his speech, “We will rebuild. We will recover. And the United States of America will emerge stronger than before.”
According to Cahn, Daschle’s comments actually gave us the Ninth Harbinger or The Prophecy. His comments came after Congress issued their joint resolution in response to 9/11. Daschle uttered these words in his closing remarks, “There is but a passage in the Bible from Isaiah that speaks to all of us at times like this . . . And then he quotes Isaiah 9:10 not realizing these things would literally happen. He closed with “That is what we will do . . . we will rebuild.” In this way, his words became prophetic. Leaders determine the course of a nation. Cahn contends, “As a nation America would carry out the vow of Isaiah 9:10.”
Cahn also believes the heart-felt message of Luke 12:28, “For whom much is given, much is required.” We as a nation have become so arrogant in our blessings, we’ve forgotten from Whom all blessings flow. He believes and has advised some in Congress, “There is hope if we pray, share the Gospel, share the warning, sound the alarm, turn from our own sins, and turn all the more to His calling. Revival begins with us.” He believes that hope is found for us in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. -NKJV
In 722 BC, the capital of the Northern Kingdom, Samaria, was destroyed and its inhabitants were removed just as the Prophet Isaiah foretold. As a result of their defiance, its people would disappear among the nations. They would be known as “The Lost Tribes of Israel.” (Jonathan Cahn has done a study on them called The Mystery of the Lost Tribes. He has also ministered to those considered to be of The Lost Tribes, the children of Menashe, in Mizoram, India.)
What will happen to America? The Bible does not say. Cahn has written The Harbinger in hopes that America will wake up before it’s too late. His evidence is compelling and Biblical. It’s evidence that demands a response.
SCH – Does The Harbinger claim that Isaiah 9:10 is prophesying about America?
SCH – Are you suggesting God made a covenant with us like He made with Israel?
SCH – How do other Jewish Rabbi and leaders treat you now that you have seen the light?
SCH – Do you feel that God is pulling back the veil from the eyes of his chosen people?
SCH – A few people have accused you from drawing from other sources other than the Bible for your writings and theology. Have you?

I do not believe Jonathan Cahn is a prophet — God does not speak through prophets anymore, I DO believe he is a Watchman on the wall. In fact we have all been admonished to be watchmen on the wall in Matthew 24. There are others out there that we need to be paying attention to also: Walid Shoebat is one of those and I do hope Jonathan will heed his warning as well. http://shoebat.com/
Much love to you and your family,
