This past weekend ‘Ben-Hur’ arrived on the silver screen, dazzling audiences with its spectacular use of technology and action-packed scenes coupled with an earnest and inspiring message. Pastors are talking about the profound impact of ‘Ben-Hur’.
“This movie will confront you, challenge you, change you,” says Bishop Ken Ulmer, Senior Pastor Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California. Bishop Ulmer describes ‘Ben-Hur’ using such words as “excellence”, “entertained”, “encouraged” and “inspired.” Dr. Ulmer is a multiply-published author with such books as A New Thing, Spiritually Fit to Run the Race, and Passionate God. Dr. Ulmer is also presently the Presiding Bishop over Macedonia International Bible Fellowship which is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
‘Ben-Hur’ is the story of Judah Ben-Hur, a prince who’s falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother, Messala. Judah is banished, separated from everyone he loves and everything he knows. After being forced into slavery, Judah spends years at sea before returning home seeking revenge. But instead of vengeance, he finds redemption and forgiveness. ‘Ben-Hur’ features Jack Huston (American Hustle) as Judah, Toby Kebbell (Warcraft) as Messala, Rodrigo Santoro (The 33) as Jesus, Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland) as Esther, and Morgan Freeman is Sheik Ilderim.
‘Ben-Hur’ is now showing in theatres worldwide.
“Ben-Hur isn’t just a story for the ages; it’s for today. One of the most dramatic stories of faith ever told.”
