On October 11, On DVD Release reports ‘The Secret Lives of Pets; and ‘Finding Dory,’ which are still in theaters, remain top-selling DVDs, even in pre-release, in the animation category. ‘Pete’s Dragon’ and ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ that are also still in theaters further continue as top-selling DVDs in pre-release in the family category. ‘Greater’ and ‘Queen of Katwe’ that are furthermore, still in theaters are also top-selling DVDs in pre-release, in the sports category.   In addition, ‘Hillsong – Let Hope Rise,’ which is still in theaters, is a top-selling DVD in pre-release in the documentary and music categories. ‘Ben-Hur’ also still in theaters, in pre-release is a top-selling DVD in the history category.  Finally, ‘Sully’ that is also in theaters still is a top-selling DVD in the biography category in pre-release.

Popular movies now on DVD include ‘Zootopia’ in the animation category. ‘War Room’ in the African American category is a popular movie now on DVD.  Further, ‘Woodlawn’ and ‘When the Game Stands Tall’ are popular DVDs in the sports category. ‘Lincoln’ is a popular DVD in the history category, along with ‘Risen.’ ‘Lone Ranger’ is a popular DVD in the Western category.  Family and redemptive movies like these have staying power and ongoing popularity. These are good choices for private and public libraries.

In summary, top pick family and redemptive movies on DVDs for the first week of October are ‘Woodlawn,’ ‘When the Game Stands Tall,’ ‘War Room,’ ‘Zootopia,’ ‘Lincoln,’ and ‘Lone Ranger.’
