Here is the real story behind the movie: In August of 2015 Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, and Alek Skarlatos boarded a train from Amsterdam to Paris. On the way, they heard a gunshot and breaking glass. Soon enough a man (a terrorist apparently inspired by ISIS) with the gun walking into the aisle. Spencer saw that it appeared the terrorist’s gun was not working. He later said that he “kind of took a leap of faith at him and ran right at him.”
The man with the gun tried to fire it, but the bullet wasn’t released because of a defective primer. Spencer tackled the man to the ground, and his two friends rushed to help him. The terrorist, however, did not go down without a fight. He slashed the back of Spencer’s neck with a box cutter and almost cut off one of his thumbs. The group of friends eventually managed to choke him unconscious, saving countless people on the train. They thwarted a terrorist attack!
