In 2010, the eyes of the world turned to Chile, where 33 miners had been buried alive by the catastrophic explosion and collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine.You may recall the news headlines as the entire world watched and banded together to help with rescue efforts.
Over the next 69 days, an international team worked night and day in a desperate attempt to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, as well as millions of people globally, waited and watched anxiously for any sign of hope. But 200 stories beneath the surface, in the suffocating heat and with tensions rising, provisions – and time – were quickly running out.
The miners had food and water for three days IF they rationed and shared amongst themselves. Instead of turning against each other for the scarce and valuable resources, what these miners did FOR each other is a story to be shared and celebrated.
In their darkest hour, trapped underground, not knowing their fate, they turned to God and they prayed. Their hope and faith never wavered.
CNN recently marked the 5th year anniversary of this event, and the importance of the miners’ faith in God.
Now, from Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros., comes an exciting and moving film based on the real-life event when a gold and copper mine collapses, trapping 33 miners underground for 69 days.
