October 8th – American Minute – “Saved to Serve”

His name was Edward Vernon "Eddie" Rickenbacker, born OCTOBER 8, 1890, and he lived an adventurous, fame filled life. "Eddie Rickenbacker confided: "It was clear to me that God had a purpose in keeping me alive...I had been saved to serve."

October 5th – American Minute -Jonathan Edwards

He entered Yale College at age 13 and graduated with honors.He became a pastor, and his sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God," started The Great Awakening Revival. His name was Jonathan Edwards, born OCTOBER 5, 1703.

October 4th – American Minute – 1983, The Year of the Bible

On OCTOBER 4, 1982, President Ronald Reagan signed the Bill making 1983 the "Year of the Bible":"Now, therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, in recognition of the contributions and influence of the Bible on our Republic and our people, do hereby proclaim 1983 the Year of the Bible in the United States.
