This year is sure to be filled with exciting and energetic new design ideas when people begin to take cues from Pantone’s designers.  The color of the year for 2013 is Emerald Green, a sophisticated change from the leafy bright greens of the past couple of years.  It is not the dark hunter green of the 1980’s but a welcome change filled with freshness and hope.

Pantone’s color of the year for 2013 is Emerald Green.

Let’s take a look at Emerald as it is showing up in interior design and fashion this year.

Shine by Yahoo put together a few emerald inspired images to celebrate the color of the year.

This beautiful and colorful bedroom is accented with a Farrow & Ball wallpaper in emerald.  Image courtesy of House Beautiful.

Rug and home decor manufacturer Surya is getting in on the emerald action.  This beautiful wool rug from the Aimee Wilder collection has a sophisticated pattern and a saturated color.

You can always count of Currey & Co to come up with unique and trendsetting designs.  This Goddess Chandelier is a magnificent blend of traditional design and updated beauty with emerald green beading.  You can buy it at at Layla Grace.

Flor is always fining new and unique patterns to spice up your home flooring.  This pattern called “All Dolled Up” contains a blend of emerald and other beautiful colors.

You can design your own emerald accent piece for your room by selecting your base color and coordinating shade for a lamp from Lamps Plus.  I like the chevron shade for a graphic juxtaposition to the curved lamp body.

What an interesting and eclectic room design using many colors of green including an emerald chest and upholstered chair.  Image courtesy of House Beautiful.

Ann Sacks created this beautiful accent mosaic tile in emerald green for your kitchen or bath.
