The movie is based on a previously untold true story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson, Empire), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer, The Help), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monàe). The three women became a revolutionary force behind one of the most important events in American history, John Glenn’s orbit.
The three African-American women crossed barriers of gender, race, and tradition to become incredible inspirations for the generation they lived in as well as many generations to come. Starring veteran actor Kevin Costner (McFarland USA, Draft Day, Field of Dreams), Kirsten Dunst (Spiderman) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Hidden Figures is based on the book of the same name by Margot Lee Shetterly. The women persevere to use mathematical equations to enable a successful NASA venture.
