‘The Shack’ movie releases on March 3, 2017!
After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips spirals into a deep depression. At this point in his life, he starts to question his innermost beliefs and values. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack decides to make the journey. When he arrives at the Shack, he encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers, led by a woman named Papa. Through this meeting and the experiences that ensue, Mack discovers important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.
The Shack is based on the novel of the same name released in 2007, and was written by William P. Young. Young wanted to share his own views on who God is, and the trinity. Because of his unconventional ideas, the book was very controversial.
Sonoma Christian Home would like to caution viewers as to the theology of this film. It represents God as three humans, two of whom are female. For these reasons, we feel it is important to understand what The Shack is all about before seeing it in theaters.
The Shack stars Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer, and Tim McGraw. It is directed by Stuart Hazeldine, and released by Summit Entertainment, owned by Lionsgate.
